Janyre has worked in the CBA industry for about 20 years, spending time in both marketing and editorial. Currently she is a developmental and acquisitions editor for Kregel Publications by day and a writer at night. And that all happens from her kitchen table when she’s not hanging out with her husband, two kids, and slightly eccentric Shetland Sheepdog.
In case you’re wondering, you pronounce that first name Jan-air…kind of like the stove, but not like the book. She’s a graduate of Taylor University and lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Janyre will be teaching a breakout session, and taking 15-minute appointments.
Story Structure—Key to Attracting an Acquisition Editor
Good structure is rarely the first thing a reviewer will praise in a work, however, a well-constructed story is critical to a novel or memoir catching the eye of both an acquisition editor and ultimately, a reader. In this session, we’ll review not only critical points in story structure but also some hands-on tools to help you build the best possible story. Topics include handling differences between genre, tracking themes, following character arcs, fixing story arc, controlling subplots, etc.
